Gosau lakes
Mighty mountains surround the Gosau lakes. The Dachstein and the Gosaukamm are probably the most famous peaks. Standing in front of the Vorderer Gosausee, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Hoher Dachstein (2,996 m). On clear days, you can even see the Dachstein Glacier. The circular trail around the Vorderer Gosausee is easy to walk and requires no special skills. However, good footwear is recommended here as well.
If you've made it halfway around the lake, a trail leads to the back Gosau lake. The path is a bit challenging, with a few short but steep sections that require some stamina. Along the way, you might encounter cows, so dogs must be kept on a leash. However, the effort is well worth it. The trail brings you closer to the Dachstein, offering even more stunning views. At the top, near the back lake See, you'll find the Holzalm, which serves traditional, hearty cuisine. Take your time and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
