Dachstein-Krippenstein
The cable car takes you from Obertraun up to the Krippenstein. Until you get to the top, you can change once. At the first stopover we go to the mammoth cave, the grand ice cave or to the Koppenbrueller Cave. Upstream is the Schoenbergalm Nature Park. There is a lot to discover. The ascent is a bit strenuous as it is quite steep. When booking the guided tour, sufficient time should be planned accordingly. A prior reservation is absolutely required to visit one of the caves. Suitable footwear is also recommended. Since the temperature inside the caves is around freezing point, appropriate clothing is advisable even in summer.
Once you arrive at the Krippenstein, a breathtaking panorama unfolds. Those who wish can take the cable car a bit further. We stay at the second mountain station and explore the "Five Fingers", offering a magnificent view of Lake Hallstatt. A trip to the Dachstein-Krippenstein is definitely worth it.
